Is there something proud about the historical beginnings of Africans in North
America? How would a people of such circumstance remember their beginnings?
Would it be the kind of pride as in proud to be a countryman? African Americans
have deep roots in this country and have had many proud moments in this country.
The truth is African Americans aren’t proud of this country’s
restless pursuit of denial in areas of race. However one cannot confuse the
meanings of the word proud with the word loyal. When you read the history
about any nation denying human beings, human rights these are not proud moments
for that nation.
African Americans have been reacting to the syndrome that I call by its extended
name as the “Aw Shut Up”, slavery’s over, there’s
no racism, get over it, stop blaming white people syndrome! Explore this if
you will? The emancipation proclamation kicked off the “Aw Shut Up”
slavery’s over, there’s no racism, get over it, stop blaming white
people syndrome. Then again in the reconstruction era “Aw Shut Up”
slavery’s over, there’s no racism, get over it, stop blaming white
people syndrome! All the way to the sixties, “Aw Shut Up” slavery’s
over, there’s no racism, get over it, stop blaming white people syndrome!
Presently (meaning right now) the democratic hopeful Senator Barack Obama
gives what is dubbed by the media as “The most important speech in the
last forty years” what is theme of this speech? “The Racial Divide”
It was a speech on race? So does that mean we can finally conclude that “Aw
Shut Up”, slavery’s over, there’s no racism, get over it,
stop blaming white people isn’t the truth as stated by white people?
We Africans Americans have spilled the blood of life in the soil and the fiber of this country. However let’s not switch the meanings of pride with loyalty? To question the African Americans loyalty is just some ole’ new age racism and bigotry (intolerance) rearing its ugly head. Not to mention that African Americans are really weary of this insulting reaction of white people. It appears that desperate times call for desperate measures?
The African American experience as always has been left to African Americans
themselves to figure out and overcome. White America has augmented (taken)
intolerance to the next bigoted degree. “If brer Rabbit can’t
find one way, he’ll find another”. If African Americans bring
up matters on race and the unfinished process of closure it gets white people
upset and uncomfortable”. Now that’s some real intolerance for
you. What is that I hear? “Aw Shut Up” slavery’s over, there’s
no racism, get over it, stop blaming white people syndrome! The forever wave
of intolerance rages on and has never ceased. Race is just hiding out right
now, in a word called class. End of part#1
